In honor of the release of Midnights, I dressed like Taylor Swift for a week. Here’s how it went!
In honor of the release of Taylor Swift’s Midnights, I’m showing you how to copy Taylor Swift’s style during her Midnights era.
Taylor Swift’s ‘Midnights Mayhem’ look
At some time in our lives, we have all looked to the fashion sense of celebrities for inspiration. Saying, “I admire her clothes,” is one thing, but wearing it is quite another.
I am going above and above to make this series a reality. Every week, a celebrity serves as my inspiration, and I try my best to replicate five of her outfits. After that, I will report back to you: Did the clothes seem well in person? Was I at ease? Did I receive different treatment? I am disclosing everything.

We’ve all looked to celebrity style for fashion inspiration at some point in our lives. But it’s one thing to say, “I love her outfit,” and it’s another to copy it in real life.
I am going above and above to make this series a reality. Every week, a celebrity serves as my inspiration, and I try my best to replicate five of her outfits. After that, I will report back to you: Did the clothes look well in real life? Was I at ease? Did I receive different treatment? I am disclosing everything.
This week, in honor of the release of Midnights, I once again dressed like my favorite blonde: Taylor Swift.
About Midnights
Taylor Swift’s tenth studio album is titled “Midnights.” The October 21, 2022, release date of the album. The idea that Swift might release one of her re-recorded albums to end the year was one of the most popular hypotheses, not just among her fans but also among the general public. When she unexpectedly revealed that a brand-new album was on the horizon, chaos ensued.
In order to promote this release, Swift also returned to her custom of using games, Easter eggs, and hints. Midnights Mayhem with Me is a TikTok series that made the track list public. She revealed a long-awaited collaboration with Lana del Rey on the album’s fourth track, “Snow on the Beach,” in this series.
At midnight on the week of the release, certain Spotify billboards worldwide revealed the lyrics, and nobody could predict where the next one would show up. At midnight, lyrics were released in the US, UK, Brazil, and Mexico. On the day of the release, the music video for the song “Anti-hero” also made its debut. As of this writing, on October 25th, a new music video for the song “Bejeweled” was released.
Critics referred to it as a concept album, while Taylor saw it as 13 nights of insomnia with various reasons for her lack of sleep. These songs were inspired by a variety of themes, including falling in love, fantasies of revenge, and contemplating what may have been. Swift is predicted to shatter additional records before the week is up, having already broken a number of them on the weekend of the release.
Taylor’s Style for the Midnights Era
The ’70s served as the inspiration for both the album’s concept art and Taylor’s Midnights style. Her red carpet attire, shorts, and interviews to date have all featured elements of the glitzy and laid-back trends of the 1970s. This inspiration is all highly contemporary.
She has donned dresses and rompers with opulent, glittering textiles and textures for her glitzy ’70s ensembles. Among the accessories Taylor has worn—and most likely will continue to wear for the remainder of the Midnights era—are platforms, glitter, satin, and rhinestones.
Swift has chosen softer textiles and a more subdued color scheme for the more informal promotional materials. To date, she has worn materials including cotton, denim, corduroy, and knitted things. Among the most used products are mom jeans, polo shirts, miniskirts, loose-fitting slacks, and oversized sweaters and t-shirts.
A Few Notes Before We Get to the Outfits:
There are a few crucial factors to think about for this post. The first is that I selected the looks prior to the album’s release and the majority of its promotional materials. This indicates that nearly every style I selected was inspired by the television show Midnights Mayhem with Me. I will do a second section that features her post-release appearances now that the album is out and she is in the media.
Secondly, Taylor wore bare feet for all of her Midnight Mayhem appearances. I picked the shoes because I knew what kinds of boots, sneakers, and shoes she usually wears. This is simply the inevitable outcome of researching Taylor Swift’s style for each of the four blogs I have written on her.
Now that we have cleared everything out, let us look at the attire!
Taylor Swift’s Midnights Style Guide
Taylor’s Midnights Style – Monday, Outfit #1
I decided to go for a laid-back, relaxed appearance for my first Midnights-inspired ensemble. This really basic blue tee and dark gray pants combination was one of my favorites.

I had to make some color concessions to replicate this. A large blue t-shirt with a white pattern on it is what I put on. I changed into a pair of faded black mom jeans after that. Since my black jeans are the same cut and feel worn out, I figured they would work since I did not have any gray pants , and I do not intend to get any. The t-shirt’s ideal big fit is because I borrowed it from my boyfriend rather than owning it.
Taylor did not wear shoes for this series, as I previously stated. For the majority of the day, I was barefoot. Since I work from home, I am typically barefoot. I wore my black pair of Nike Cortez sneakers when I went swimming. I believed these sneakers worked because Taylor had previously worn ones like them.
I thought this outfit was great! This outfit replica is, in my opinion, the most realistic and useful of all the ones I have done. Since I work from home, as previously mentioned, I only wear shoes when I am going out or trying to recreate a particular appearance. This outfit was quite comfortable, and the t-shirt is so soft that I might not return it.
Taylor’s Midnights Style – Tuesday, Outfit #2
I could not avoid doing it after watching this video on Tuesday. Taylor is dressed in the same gray worn jeans and brown sweater as before.
In fact, the sweater is the identical one that Sadie Sink wore in the short film All Too Well (10 Minute Version). If you want to review the short film and brush up on your memories, I wrote an entire post on it.

I reasoned that if Taylor Swift and Lizzie McGuire could replicate their outfits, I could too. I wore the same brown and tan argyle sweater that I wore in my essay on All Too Well. My dad truly owns the sweater. I then put on my faded black jeans from the previous day.
Once more, I spent the majority of the day without shoes, but Tuesday is the day of the movie date. I wore a pair of brown suede Chelsea boots to the movie theater later that day. This sort of adhered to the look’s fall concept.
To be honest, this one was simple and enjoyable. It is a great cozy fall ensemble in addition to being adorable. In my opinion, a mock-neck top underneath the sweater would make it appear more put together and allow you to wear it in many weather conditions.
Taylor’s Midnights Style – Wednesday, Outfit #3
I always make an effort to pick something different for Wednesday than I do for the rest of the week. I wore this green outfit, but Taylor has a lot of non-pants outfits. Taylor is dressed in a miniskirt and a polo shirt in the video.

I donned a gorgeous pistachio green knitted long-sleeved polo shirt to replicate this. I chose this brown, high-waisted miniskirt for the skirt. I was unable to find one that I liked, but Taylor’s is corduroy. This one, which features a tiny dark brown Prince of Wales design, seemed to give the ensemble the autumnal warmth I was aiming for. Shoes come next. Once more, I made do with these brown booties that lace up.
This outfit truly is something I adore! Right now, it seems like the ideal color scheme for fall. I needed to look my best because Wednesday is the day I have the most meetings, so it was fantastic to feel so put together and attractive. To make it weather-appropriate, I would add a pair of brown tights and perhaps a coat or jacket if the temperature were a little lower.
Taylor’s Midnights Style – Thursday, Outfit #4
Since my city’s weather suddenly altered this week, I wanted something truly fall for the fourth day. Taylor is seen in the video sporting corduroy leggings and an orange pullover.

I wore a knit sweater that was burnt orange to replicate this appearance. Although I did not have a turtleneck sweater like Taylor’s, I reasoned that this one would also work. I chose these dark brown corduroy trousers for the bottoms. The pants resemble Taylor’s in that they are high-waisted and have a loose fit. I wore my brown, lace-up booties from the previous day as my shoes.
This one was so much fun! It was quite warm and comfortable. My favorite fall and winter jeans right now are these ones, which I purchased last year. They are constructed of a soft fabric, and I adore how deep the color is.
To be honest, I only wore the booties for a little portion of the day because I neglected to wear them in the morning and did not go out at all. However, hey! I consider this a victory for comfort because Taylor was also barefoot.
Taylor’s Midnights Style – Friday, Outfit #5
Friday has finally arrived. You are undoubtedly aware by now that I save my most anticipated attire for Friday. I went with this look; view the picture by clicking the link. It is from Taylor’s night out at the new movie The Banshees of Inisherin’s NYC premiere.
The fact that this ensemble includes shoes is its finest feature! Taylor is dressed in a black shirt, a black blazer, loafers, and checkered slacks in the picture that was linked above.

I started the ensemble with a basic black tank top. I then changed into a pair of brown and tan houndstooth trousers. Although the design is small, I think it resembles Taylor’s. The pants’ fit makes the largest difference. I have a straight fit, but hers are incredibly loose. I then put on a black blazer that was too big.
Lastly, I included these burgundy loafers that you have undoubtedly seen countless times. Taylor’s shoes are black and high-heeled loafers, but I am not looking for a pair like that right now, and even if I did, I doubt I would wear them much. I decided to wear my favorite loafers instead.
It would be an understatement to say that I adore this ensemble. I think it is the cutest one of the week, but it is much more structured than I typically go for! My favorite feature is the pants, which I had been waiting a long time for because they are custom-made. And a few days prior to the start of the week, I received them. Since I had the pants, I opted to change up my Friday outfit, which I had actually planned to wear differently than Midnight’s Mayhem.
Final Thoughts
Since I work from home and feel more at ease that way, it was extremely feasible for me to spend the majority of the day barefoot. However, my favorite outfits are the blue tee on Monday, the mint-chip combination on Thursday, and the menswear-inspired ensemble on Friday. For me, Midnights currently ranks rather solidly in sixth place among my favorite TS albums. I am still learning the lyrics and getting into the songs, but it will most likely make it into the top 5 before the year is up. Nevertheless, some of the tracks are already in my list of the top ten songs on their own. Easy. My favorites on the album are Anti-hero, Snow on the Beach, Bejeweled, and Sweet Nothing. Sweet Nothing and Snow on the Beach are both quite charming and capture the essence of what it is like to love someone deeply and have them return the favor, as well as to have a partner who truly understands you. This makes me want to thank my boyfriend for listening to me analyze this album all weekend long and for assisting me with this post.
However, my two favorite songs are Karma and You Are On Your Kid. Karma is incredibly joyful and completely unexpected, and YOYOK is incredible and always brings me to tears. I am eager to sing both at the top of my lungs with a thousand Swifties, plus there are whispers of a tour (as of this writing).
Midnights is the CD to listen to if you need ideas for a more formal occasion or a more laid-back day. You have alternatives because Taylor wore everything from casual to glam for this one. Many of the colors and fabrics are ideal for fall and winter, so it is particularly appropriate for these seasons.
