Tried Taylor Swift’s TTPD Street Style—Here’s How It Turned Out

In honor of the release of The Tortured Poets Department, here’s how to copy Taylor Swift’s most recent outfits.

Is there anyone else who is eagerly awaiting the debut of Taylor Swift’s The Tortured Poets Department?

In celebration of the album’s release this week, I imitated Taylor Swift’s most current street style ensembles from 2024.

About The Tortured Poets Department

Taylor Swift‘s eleventh studio album is titled The Tortured Poets Department, or TTPD for short. On April 19th (or, as of this posting date, in a few hours), it will be released.

In a typical Taylor manner, she revealed her new album while accepting a Grammy for her last album, Midnights (2022).

Since no singles have been published, we do not know anything about the album’s sound.

We do know that during the Eras Tour, Taylor referred to TTPD as a “lifeline album.” Reputation (2017) and Red (Taylor’s Version) (2021) are said to be mixed.

The five phases of grief—denial, anger, bargaining, sadness, and acceptance—are the basis for the album’s idea. Taylor even used her earlier (self-owned) albums to build playlists for Apple Music based on this idea.

Additionally, the record comes in five different versions, all of which are consistent with this subject.

TTPD will include a bonus track in addition to sixteen songs, two of which feature other artists.

Post Malone is featured on the opening tune, Fortnite. The eagerly anticipated song “Florida!” is Taylor’s collaboration with Florence and the Machine.

The Manuscript, The Bolter, The Albatross, and The Black Dog are the final four potential additional tracks. Each version of the album has a single bonus song and is called after one of these tunes.

Taylor’s TTPD Style

Taylor’s street style provides subtle hints about the look of her next era, as is customary for her.

All of her preppy yet seductive pieces from late 2023 and early 2024 begin to make sense now that we know she was starting her “Tortured Poet” phase.

TTPD has used a lot of neutral colors, particularly white, navy blue, and brown tones, to tone down the color scheme in contrast to the glam and bohemian concept of the 1970s.

Taylor has worn a lot of preppy clothes in the past, but her TTPD attire seems much more laid back than her Red-hipster look and 1989’s 1950s style.

Taylor has worn a lot of dresses, maxi-length coats, loose-fitting shirts and jackets, and large blazers during this time. Consider The Row, which has emerged as her preferred basic brand.

All of this is paired with sensual pieces like miniskirts, particularly pleated ones, mesh and cutouts in key locations, and corset tops.

You can bet that she is still wearing jewelry. Her recent outfits frequently incorporate jewelry, rhinestones, and glitter.

Tried Taylor Swift’s TTPD Street Style—Here’s How It Turned Out

We now know that Taylor was recording TTPD because we have seen photos of her visiting the studio during The Eras Tour.

The majority of her most recent recordings are straightforward, cozy, and understated.

I started by copying this studio look in black and navy blue.

Tried Taylor Swift’s TTPD Street Style—Here’s How It Turned Out

I started with a similar base for my version of this ensemble: navy-blue cargo pants and a black cotton tank top. My sister gave both to me.

For some edge, I then paired it with black platform Chelsea boots.

Lastly, I added a red and black baseball cap as an accessory. Although Taylor’s is beige, I had this black one on hand because I thought the red accent went well with other of her recent ensembles.

I did not think I would enjoy this look at first. To put it mildly, it is not my style.

However, after wearing it and using it throughout the day, I have come to really enjoy it.

Although it is well-made enough that you can go out in it without looking like you just rolled out of bed, it is quite comfy, especially if you spend a lot of time sitting down, like I do.

I also adore the pants! So much! I will either get a pair or continue to pilfer my sister’s.

Outfit 2: Tuesday, Preppy Neutral

Taylor has been teaching us all how to dress professionally by wearing stylish preppy outfits at night for the past year. particularly loafers and jackets.

I went with Taylor’s navy and white neutrals for my movie night ensemble on Tuesday.

Outfit 2: Tuesday, Preppy Neutral

I began by making this ensemble out of a white cotton dress. Although the detailing are a little busier than Taylor’s, it has the same A-line skirt as hers, as well as the same length and color.

I then put on an old navy blue jacket. My mom owns the blazer, but it has not been put back in her wardrobe for several months. It fits and is the ideal length for this style.

I opted for a pair of translucent brown tights.

Now, I am going to disappoint you with the shoes. To go with the same color scheme, I chose a pair of brown lace-up booties as I do not have any loafers with heels.

The decision? I am in awe of this clothing’s adorableness!

It is easy to use and comfortable, making it ideal for a movie theater’s air conditioning system. The length of the dress and the blazer complement each other perfectly. It was not the best look for a warm spring day because of the tights and layers, but I managed to get away with it.

I have been searching for the perfect pair of shoes since last year, and that is my main regret right now. Simply put, I have not discovered the ideal match.

Outfit 3: Wednesday, Preppy Date Night

As previously stated, Taylor adores her loafers and miniskirts. She appears to wear a miniskirt in two of every three street-style ensembles.

I must admit that I am enjoying this, especially during the spring and summer.

This blue and beige outfit is one of her most recent styles, which I then imitated:

Outfit 3: Wednesday, Preppy Date Night

I started by donning a sky-blue sweater. My sister loaned it to me. Although the sweater is a little cut, I like it this way.

I then chose this brown miniskirt with pleats. As you may recall, I used this for my previous piece about Taylor Swift. Although Taylor’s skirt is only beige, I had this one already and felt it worked.

I wore cognac loafers, which somewhat complemented her brown shoes. I went with black sunglasses and a cognac crossbody bag as accessories.

This is a cute but perplexing look.

The sweater is more appropriate for fall, but the miniskirt isn’t, so it is confusing. However, they go well together, and I generally adore wearing brown and blue.

One less-than-ideal point is that this skirt is short and uncomfortable to wear while working all day. I spent a lot of time attempting to prevent it from riding up and readjusting it. This skirt is a standing-up skirt.

I would tie the sweater around my shoulders and pair it with a white or beige shirt if I were to wear this again. I appreciate that Taylor encouraged me to experiment with this combination of styles.

Outfit 4: Thursday, Karma is the Guy on the Chiefs

It is amazing how much has changed in just a few months.

We began investing in Taylor back in October after learning that she was seeing Travis. She then got us all cheering for the Chiefs during the actual Super Bowl game.

I knew I had to include Taylor’s Super Bowl outfit in my next Taylor piece as soon as I saw it.

Outfit 4: Thursday, Karma is the Guy on the Chiefs

It was easier than I anticipated to put this look together.

I started by wearing a black corset top with black mom jeans that had rhinestones and cutouts. I then added an oversized red velvet jacket.

I wore a pair of elegant black sock boots as shoes.

Hair and accessories are crucial with this one. I thus inserted little braids and put my hair in a ponytail.

To tie in the red, I accessorized with a pair of ladybug earrings, a gold diamond necklace, and gold rings. My partner gave me the earrings as a present for our anniversary.

Is this the appearance I like best? Absolutely, by far.

I believe it looks fantastic, I adore how hot I look, and it is surprisingly comfy. This attire is fantastic for a dating night.

Bonus points: I bought everything from nearby retailers. This indicates that, with the exception of the booties, which I have owned for years, they are all Mexican brands or retailers.

I discovered a store that sells customized goods, including some bejeweled denim, for the pants. I then placed an order with them for jeans in my precise size and requirements.

The jacket was purchased at a vintage and second-hand store in Mexico.

My final purchase was the corset. It comes from a tiny store outside of my city, but they shipped it in a matter of days, and it is cozy.

Outfit 5: Friday, The Tortured Poets Department

We reached the final day. This one was an attempt to mimic the record itself, including the color scheme, variances, and general appearance.

Based on the various colors Taylor used for the variations and the pictures in them, I designed the following ensemble.

Outfit 5: Friday, The Tortured Poets Department

I started by making a base out of charcoal (The Albatross) and black (The Black Dog). I was dressed in loose-fitting charcoal slacks and a black tank top.

I then wore a large white shirt, which directly references The Albatross’ picture session and introduces a color variation (The Manuscript).

Following Taylor’s example, I chose a pair of hefty black loafers for my shoes. Lastly, in reference to The Bolter version, I continued to wear my gold jewelry.

I believe that this is the most wearable and trendy attire for the majority of people. And I adore it! Additionally, it is the only one I have worn again.

It is ideal for transitioning from winter to spring, is cozy, and is literally composed of simple, neutral pieces. After working from home all day, I went out on a casual date night with my partner.

Final Thoughts

Taylor Swift’s street style is a fantastic blend of high-end and high-street fashion.

In any given ensemble, she is most likely wearing items that are readily available at any mall, right next to her high-end designer clothing. She also makes it appear natural.

She also frequently wears jewelry, clothes, and bags from independent brands. Taylor is the ideal celebrity to watch if you are searching for innovative new designers or products.

I have to admit that she has a big influence on my style, and I have purchased several exact copies of her pieces. Like the outfit she wore in January, which was made of green velvet.

(Interesting fact: I intended to wear it for this post when I received it. It still has not come. However, I will mention it in a later post. It is a pledge!

However, not everyone can afford everything just because Taylor wears high-street or independent brands. She continues to wear fancy clothing.

Please use your money wisely, and do not be disheartened if someone tells you that something Taylor is wearing can be bought online. Because affordable does not equate to attainable!

Fortunately, a lot of her clothing is a little easier to find elsewhere, or you most likely have something in your closet.

And lastly, I can not wait for TTPD! The music list is intriguing, the concept is both tragic and uplifting, and I am eager to see how this album influences or transforms the tour.

I might have to buy tickets a third time if it does!

Do not worry, once the album (and fashion guide) is out, I will be back with a detailed analysis. So, keep an eye out.
