I copied Taylor’s Autumn/Winter 2023 street style, and here’s how you can, too.
In honor of the release of 1989 (Taylor’s Version), I’m showing you how to copy Taylor Swift’s Fall 2023 outfits.
At some time in our lives, we have all looked to the fashion sense of celebrities for inspiration. Saying something like, “I love her clothing,” is one thing, but really wearing it in real life is quite another.
I am going above and above to make this series a reality. Every week, a celebrity serves as my inspiration, and I try my best to replicate five of her outfits. After that, I will report back to you: Did the clothes look well in real life? Was I at ease? Did I receive different treatment? I am disclosing everything.
This week, I imitated Taylor Swift’s 2023 Autumn/Winter streetwear ensembles in celebration of the release of 1989 (Taylor’s Version).
Taylor Swift wants to purchase the record label of her master recordings after leaving Big Machine in 2018. Taylor was never allowed to purchase the masters altogether; instead, Big Machine wanted her to sign another six-album contract that would gradually transfer the masters to her.
She signed with Republic Records, her current label, knowing that they would at least grant her ownership of her future work, and she went on. Scott Borchetta, the CEO of Big Machine, then sold the label to Scooter Braun’s business, Ithaca Holdings. Because Braun was Kanye West’s buddy and former manager, eleven years of her work are owned by a man she dislikes and who dislikes her. She was upset by this, but to regain her songs, she chose to re-record them later in 2020.
After Braun sold her back library to Shamrock Records, Taylor declined to become an equity partner, but she accepted the task of rerecording all six albums. Taylor started re-recording her first six albums in late 2020: 1989, Debut, Fearless, Speak Now, Red, and Reputation.
New collaborations with other artists and previously unheard tracks, referred to as the “From The Vault songs,” are featured on every rerecorded album.
The re-recordings are in the following order: Red (Taylor’s Version), Fearless (Taylor’s Version),
About 1989 (Taylor’s Version)
Taylor Swift‘s fifth album, 1989, was released on October 27, 2014. Taylor’s debut pop album was released in 1989. Even though she had experimented with it in earlier albums, they were still classified as country-pop. Additionally, it catapulted Swift to an entirely new degree of fame.
1989 was widely regarded as her first mainstream release. Within a week, Taylor’s two albums sold over a million copies, making her the first artist to do so. The highest-grossing tour of 2015 was her eight-month 1989 World Tour.
On August 9th, 2023, the re-recording was announced. It was the final evening of her Eras Tour stop in Los Angeles, USA. I am glad to report that I was present when she made the announcement! SoFi Stadium was alive with anticipation for an announcement that was now certain since the first blue dress. I will always remember that moment since it was so special and magical.
There are five tracks from The Vault and sixteen previously released songs on 1989 (Taylor’s Version). Bad Blood FT Kendrick Lamar, the album’s sole collaboration, is included in the Deluxe edition. Lastly, the Target-only Tangerine edition includes Sweeter Than Fiction (Taylor’s Version).
Before Midnights and Folklore, I believe it is reasonable to state that Taylor’s biggest album was 1989. For better or worse, she became a part of the cultural zeitgeist.
Taylor was more divisive and despised than ever in the 1989 era. Every media outlet utilized her name and face as instant clickbait, which resulted in overexposure and further criticism. Taylor was more targeted than ever before, whether it was because of her figure, dating life, all-female group of friends, or the themes in her songs.
Her admirers, however, remained and praised the CD. Swifties appreciated her new voice and were enamored with her lyrical skill, candor, and tongue-in-cheek humor.
Taylor’s rendition of 1989 is a tribute to early adulthood. It is an album about the thrill of freshly found freedom, but it also explores the loneliness and uncertainty that accompany it.
Taylor Swift’s 2023 Fall Outfits Guide
Taylor has provided us with numerous amazing street-style moments, carrying on the trend we saw this Spring/Summer. She has thrown a nod to her 1989 style whenever she goes out with her friends, attends football games, or enters and exits the studio.
Many of the items Taylor wore from 2014 to 2016 have been worn again. With a more sophisticated aesthetic, the preppy look that characterized the 1989 era is returning. Taylor also wears more edgy, casual, and loose-fitting clothing with more comfortable shoes, including sneakers and boots, in contrast to her elegant crop top and heels ensemble from that period.
She has been wearing a lot of light layers made of knit, denim, and mesh as the weather turns colder. The rotation now includes short skirts paired with boots and loafers. Additionally, athleisure clothing, fitted pieces, and corsets have become essential. She also typically wears warm neutrals with pops of color, particularly red.
Monday: First Outfit
I wanted to design a style for my first look of the week that included elements of Taylor’s Version and the original 1989 era. And it is this appearance.
Taylor is dressed in a crossbody purse, black booties, a plaid skirt, and a blue sweater. I knew I had to replicate this look as soon as I saw it.

Monday – Outfit #1
I wanted to design a style for my first look of the week that included elements of Taylor’s Version and the original 1989 era. And it is this appearance.
Taylor is dressed in a crossbody purse, black booties, a plaid skirt, and a blue sweater. I knew I had to replicate this look as soon as I saw it.
I started by dressing in a navy blue sweater for my take on this style. I then wore it with a miniskirt in plaid. The pleated skirt comes in a variety of brown hues. I wore a pair of black combat boots with silver accents for footwear. Lastly, I added a warm brown crossbody bag as an accessory.
Although the items in my costume are a little different, it is a really accurate replica that required very little purchasing. I only purchased one item, a skirt. (Although I did purchase it for this position, I have been searching for a reason to replace one that no longer fits.)
Taylor’s skirt is made of plaid and denim that has been deconstructed. I discovered this plaid one that looked a lot like the actual portion of hers. I have owned the remaining goods for years, but they are simple, so they are easy to locate.

Your Version – Sweatshirt, Skirt, Boots, Bag
In my opinion, it is a basic yet stylish ensemble. Although I personally would have tucked the sweater in, I have been enjoying the not-tucking trend because it is so cozy.
Tights and a warm coat would not appear out of place with the colors and materials used in this ensemble, which is not for the coldest days of winter or even autumn.
Just so you know, I could wear this exactly as is because I work from home. However, wearing tights is also a wonderful choice for a casual office setting if your workplace has dress codes or you do not feel comfortable wearing a miniskirt.
Tuesday – Outfit #2
I had to do a red and black football moment to confront my next ensemble. Taylor has shown us how to dress comfortably and stylishly for a game in recent months.
Taylor’s outfit consists of a red t-shirt, a red sweatshirt, a faux leather skirt, and either white shoes or heeled loafers.
I began by making my ensemble out of a simple red t-shirt. It is my only one, however, it is not as big as hers. I then donned a black, pleated miniskirt that looked like faux leather. I put on a crimson sweatshirt for layering. Lastly, I wore white Nike sneakers and white socks.

Your Version – Skirt, T-Shirt, Sweatshirt, Socks, Sneakers
I also purchased the skirt for this one. The same justification applied as before: I kept delaying getting a new one that fit me because the one I had did not fit me at all. Since my body has altered, I suppose this post catalyzed me to finally let go of several items that I had been clinging to but that no longer fit.
I considered acquiring a red sweater for this, but I was unable to find one that would be perfect for years to come and would arrive in time for this article. The sneakers are no different. I would like to wait for a Black Friday sale on the red and white Nike sneakers that Taylor is sporting.
This ensemble was adorable. This one seems like the ideal ensemble to go from Red to 1989 to Reputation. It is very preppy and enjoyable.
Nothing is easier or more comfortable in terms of wearability than this. However, it is for the warmer days in the fall and winter, just as my last look.
Thin layers, like this sweatshirt, are fine for getting through the day because I do not live in an area that gets extremely cold. I would replace the t-shirt with a red turtleneck and even add red tights to dress it up for a chilly day. A coat—preferably red—would be my go-to option if it became too cold.
Wednesday – Outfit #3
Taylor showed up on Wednesday wearing the ideal casual yet polished ensemble. She is dressed in a coat, knee-high boots, a rugby shirt, and another crossbody bag.
I donned a black rugby polo shirt to achieve this look. This item is enormous, but it is not truly oversized because it comes from the men’s area. I put on a yellow suede coat that was quite similar to her toffee coat.
I then got into a little argument regarding the shoes. I could either scrunch down a pair of over-the-knee boots that were suede and a different shade of brown, or I could get a pair of riding boots that were the proper material and knee height.
In the end, I went with the brown riding boots. They reminded me more of what she was wearing than I could have imagined. Once more, I added a brown crossbody bag as an accessory.

Thursday – Outfit #4
1989 (Taylor’s Version) had been playing nonstop in my house for about a week, and the week was almost over. Taylor is dressed in a corset, black shoes, a faux-leather miniskirt, and a multicolored mesh top in the ensemble below.
For my version of this date night look, I wore a simple black camisole. Then, I layered with a blue, long-sleeved mesh top. For bottoms, I wore the same faux-leather, pleated mini skirt I used for Tuesday’s look. I didn’t tuck the shirt in, just like she didn’t.
Finally, I wore my black Doc Martens as my version of black lace-up booties and also tried to style my hair in two buns like Taylor’s.

Your Version – Skirt, Top, Boots, Corset
I had to make many compromises to achieve this adorable look.
I made a color compromise first. Since I already had this identical top, I simply could not think of a decent reason to acquire a green mesh top. Then, the skirt’s style changed, but once more, I already had this one, so it was sufficient for me. And lastly, the corset. I do own one, but wearing it underneath the shirt made it appear incredibly strange.
I saw why someone referred to this appearance as “folklore fading out” when these pictures were released. It had a rather edgy appearance that reminded me more of previous albums than 1989. However, I believe I unintentionally generated a reputation-era look with the snake print.
Friday – Outfit #5
It was Friday at last, as well as a dating night. Why not adopt one of Taylor’s official date night ensembles from her outing with Travis Kelce? She is dressed in a coat, heels, fitted slacks, and a corset top.
I wore a black corset to get this look. I then wore pants with pinstripes in black. The pants are high-waisted and fit loosely. I wore black heels as shoes. Lastly, I accessorized with a gold chain necklace and wore a grey fitted coat.

Your Version – Corset, Pants, Heels, Coat
Oddly, I already have everything I need to achieve this look. Taylor’s corset features gold chains for straps, but mine is strapless, therefore, my corset is a little different. Other minor variations exist. For instance, my coat is more structured, and my pants are pinstripe.
All in all, I had rather accurate doppelgängers for everything she wore. In my opinion, you might only need to get the corset.
This clothing is really stylish. And I thought it was fantastic. To be honest, I thought I looked fantastic. However, I soon changed my shoes and top after attempting to wear them in the early morning. I changed into a black sweatshirt and sneakers so that I could work comfortably all day. I changed into the real attire when it was time to leave.
The most important thing to remember is that this is just a going-out outfit. To make it more wearable for daily use, I would replace the heels with booties or shoes and put a shirt underneath the corset.
Final Thoughts
I loved the 1989 (Taylor’s Version) week!
Do not get upset with me, but my least favorite Taylor album has always been 1989. Although I enjoy the album, I think it is not as good as her previous albums. Nevertheless, this album contains some of my favorite Taylor songs ever, including Clean, New Romantics, and You Are In Love.
My perspective on it has altered since I listened to it back-to-back for the first time in years, thanks to the rerecording. This re-recording has made me reflect on the last nine years and how much I have attempted to reinvent myself to discover my identity, just like Taylor did.
In retrospect, I can identify with a lot of the feelings and ideas Taylor raised in 1989. particularly after experiencing early adulthood and all of its adjustments. Figuring out who you are, what you want, and where you want to go in life as an adult requires reinvention.
I also think the production is crisper and the sound is clearer with the rerecording, although it is still very much from its era. My favorites from the new songs are definitely Slut!, Now That We Do not talk, and Is It Over Now?
This week was enjoyable. Taylor has been providing us with a lot of fashion inspiration lately, and I liked the looks. I am interested to see her street style and whether the show will change its costumes as her Latin American leg of the tour progresses.
The fact that Taylor’s style is genuinely her own, even when attempting to evoke different eras or include little Easter eggs, is one of my favorite things about it. She has a reputation for dressing anyway she pleases, even if it involves reversing an item or arranging it differently than intended (e.g., a rugby shirt as a dress).
You need look no further than Ms. Swift for ideas on how to update your fall/winter wardrobe. Most of her clothes may be worn on chilly days with minor adjustments. Generally speaking, you most likely already have several of the products. Since Taylor blends high-street and designer styles, it is easy to find exact or dupe things even if you do not have a specific item in mind.
